2026 Ford Mustang Mach-E Review: Worthy of the Mustang Badge?

Does the 2026 Ford Mustang Mach-E deserve the Mustang badge and name? Well I was one of those people that didn’t think it did, till I had it for a week to review it.

Starting on the outside, I fell in love with the Adriatic Blue Metallic color and so did everyone that laid eyes on it. I was seeing some design cues from 90s Mustang in the front and hood lines of the Mach-E. The 19” wheels with the black inserts gave it a nice contrast, but I’d probably opt for the Sinister Bronze option. It does have a rally car look to it, and is not a common color for factory wheels.

Getting in, this Mach-E was set up with the light space gray interior. I’m usually not a fan of lighter colors due to the higher maintenance, but I think it’s worth it to get a very airy and open feeling in the interior. The seats were also comfortable and the finishes were impressively luxurious. I did have some trouble with getting used to the large vertical screen. I would’ve preferred that the lower section with the climate controls were hard buttons. This would’ve solved my issue of having to take my eyes off the road to be able to identify the part of the screen to change the cabin temperature. If they were buttons, a simple tactile feel of a physical button, while my eyes are on the road, would be enough to make the adjustment.

Under the hood, you get a frunk, if you pay for it. Unfortunately it is an option to have the tub under the hood and honestly, its worth it if you have kid’s dirty sports gear, dirty pet items, or your wet beach clothes, to avoid smelling and dirtying up the interior of the Mach-E. Below that, we have this Mach-E in the single motor, RWD, and extended range battery configuration. That mean that you have 372 horsepower and 387 lb.-ft. of torque, with a range of 320 miles. If you’re needing more, you can go to the higher trims than this Premium, and get the GT with 480 horsepower and up to 700 lb-ft. of torque! I’m one to love power and speed, but I was honestly loving the lower numbers because it definitely felt plenty. I drove in whisper mode, think eco in other vehicles, and it was incredible throttle control. I didn’t use the one-pedal driving option, because when you let off the pedal, it didn’t awkwardly kick forward or cause any aggressive regen braking. It felt as if you were simply in a neutral state and your speed didn’t decrease. This made coasting feel like actual coasting! Of course I had to have some fun with it and I was able to finesse the throttle to be on the edge of slip and right before traction control kicked in. Confidence and consistency like I’ve never experienced in any other car.

Coming back to my question if this 2026 Ford Mustang Mach-E deserved the Mustang badge and name? It 100% does embody the spirit of the Mustang sports car, in a more every day practical way.
