Project Miata The Answer- Ep 1- Interior Cleaning

The first thing I wanted to tackle on the Project Miata was cleaning it up. Thankfully I live near the Detail Garage Prosper store where the team helped me decide what I needed. It may not have looked dirty, but after I was done, my rags and brushes showed a lot of dirt and grime removed. I’ll be including links to all the items I used in the cleanup.

I started with getting all the leaves and dirt out of the carpets and mats. I was planning on using my Hart Tools portable dry/wet vac, but like usual, I hadn’t charged either of my batteries. Thankfully I had my Hart Tools home vacuum to clean take over while my batteries charged.

If there’s one thing that I’ve learned watching YouTube detailing videos, is that brushes are key to deep cleaning. The Nice & Stiff Heavy Duty Carpet & Interior Brush was great to loosen any dirt that was deep in the carpet and mats and made vacuuming more effective.

If you want a no nonsense product, you’ll want to get the Nonsense Invisible Super Cleaner. I used it on virtually the whole interior to get all the years of grime that my dashboard had. I had previously cleaned my wife’s car with it and it surprised at how well it did on some stains I thought wouldn’t come out. After that, I decided to buy the gallon sized container since I know I’ll be frequently using it.

After deep cleaning, it was time to protect. On the leather seats, I used Sprayable Leather Cleaner & Conditioner In One to condition to a nice touch. The dashboard was UV protected with G6 Hypercoat Protective Dressing and give it a wet shine. You can also wipe it to a lesser wet look which is what I ended up going with.
