2026 Genesis GV80 Coupe: Testing Terrain Modes

The 2026 Genesis GV80 Coupe only gets 2 new things compared to the previous model year. The GV80 is like that person that you’re trying to buy a gift for, when they already have everything. Thankfully Genesis was able to add the Prestige Black trim, and the Terrain Mode for the 2026 model year.
Staring with the Prestige Black trim, you’ll get a black finish to the 22” wheels. The headlight bezels, exterior trim, and badging also get the dark treatment. The interior trim choice is an open-pore black ash wood.
The other change for the 2026 was the addition of the Terrain Modes. According to Genesis’ website, the new Terrain Mode Select’s Snow, Mud, and Sand modes help you optimize the GV80 Coupe’s torque, suspension, and AWD performance for confident driving in a variety of conditions. I took this as just a borrowed modes from their Hyundai XRT division but I was wrong. There was definitely some development of the modes to work with the GV80’s drivetrain offering.
Put it in snow mode, and the GV80 Coupe will make sure to smooth your throttle inputs and provide traction over speed. Switching it to sand, the throttle response will be more responsive and the AWD works in tandem with the traction control to deliver the a controlled fun. Finally, the mud mode appeared to offer the most fun with allowing the traction control to relax and allow for sliding in the unpaved road I drove on. All this is of course on all season tires that appeared to be more on the summer tire category.
Overall, the 2026 Genesis GV80 Coupe took an already incredible vehicle, and made it fun to drive in any condition.
