The 2026 Ford Maverick is a little truck that you can’t help but love. It’s brought back a market that was missing since the 90s. It’s been so impactful, that its created multiple new brands dedicated to the small truck segment.
Starting on the outside, the facelifted model sports smaller headlight assemblies compared to the previous bug eyed looking design. The Ruby Red Metallic Tinted Clearcoat had a similar shade and depth to the Mazda soul red. The Maverick does lend itself to the great color selection from Ford, which would make it hard for me to decide a favorite. The 17” wheels in the carbonized gray color, were a good size but there is a 19” option should you want a more street truck look to your Maverick.
Inside, the Maverick had the grey and navy cloth choice. It did have a retro style vibe that really suited the truck’s styling. I did learn that the 2026 model year will not have a wireless charger option, as Ford has removed it on all trims. My only assumption is performance issues. Unfortunately the material used in those areas were heavily scratched so be aware that it’s not very durable. It took me a bit to get used to the open style door grab, but once I did, I was actually enjoying it and seeing how it allowed a tall bottle to be saved in the door opening.
Under the hood, the 2.5L 4-cylinder hybrid engine is delivering 184 combined horsepower, and 236 lb.-ft of torque. It gets delivered via an ECVT and then to all the wheels as this one was built. If you’re wanting MPGs, this powertrain option will be your go to, delivering a combined 37, 40 city, and 34 highway. We saw ourselves getting about 32, due to our more than usual aggressive driving to test the power. If you’re wanting more power, you’ll want to go for the 2.0L EcoBoost engine that delivers 250 horsepower and 280 of torque.
Overall, I enjoyed my time with the 2026 Ford Maverick. It’s the perfect little truck for those that don’t really need to do truck things all the time, but when they do, it’ll step up to the plate.
