2022 Mercedes AMG EQS Review: Zero Emissions All Fun

Even though the 2022 Mercedes AMG EQS drove up silently, its presence was definitely loud. The sleek design makes this full EV easy to slip through the air. The 22” wheels are the largest size I’ve driven in a non-SUV vehicle. They are also my favorite Mercedes factory wheel resembling a turbo fan type of wheel. The only thing that’s a shame is the face that they hide the massive carbon ceramic disks that get squeeze by a gold painted caliper.

You get inside and the interior is futuristic, German, and very much Mercedes. Although the white color choice wouldn’t be my first, it did have a really nice look to it. The wood trim was a yacht-design brown walnut with aluminum lines that added another level of luxury, The white steering wheel is where I kept having a love/hate relationship with. First the hate, it’s white and will be a pain to maintain. The next thing was the touch system that was too sensitive and not accurate with the actions I gave it. The love part was the fact that it was white and it looked different than your usual black leather. The large opening made it easy to see through to the gauge cluster.

Under the hood, is where I couldn’t explore. Mercedes added a cover to their hood release pull and I couldn’t access it. They use a screw with what looked like an Allen or hex pattern on it. I didn’t bother looking for the right size since it was fairly uncomfortable to get to anyways. I get why they don’t want people to open their hoods but when another YouTuber opened their EQS’ hood, it had leaves underneath which would’ve eventually deteriorated the metal if left uncleaned. At a minimum, it should have been left accessible but use plastic covers to hide the electric drivetrain.

The performance of the EQS was insane! The launch control pushed me back on my seat and kept me there as the speedometer climbed quickly. The grip of the tires were incredible and adding the rear steering made it easy to turn on twisty roads.

After the week with the 2022 Mercedes AMG EQS, I did not want to hand over the keys. That was till they offered to send me the $156,680 bill with how this one was equipped.
