It’s not everyday you see drifting happening at Circuit of the Americas!

The incredible grassroots Lone Star Drift series out of Texas, was sharing the COTA stage during the Super Lap Battle. This was the second drift event held at the track but this time it was at the inner lot next to the back straight.

The drivers were offering ride alongs to fans to help cover the cost of all the tire shredding that was happening. We saw many familiar cars and faces going all out with some incredible speed and angle on the track layout.

As we turned our attention to the race track, we were greeted with the parade laps that were offered to the Lonestar drivers. We’ve done multiple parade laps at COTA and it’s always a great experience even if you’re not going at full speed. You could see that many drivers were enjoying the laps and makes you wonder how many of them considered exchanging the sideways life for the apex life.

Here’s our photo coverage of the event and we wonder if COTA would ever consider hosting a Formula Drift event on the actual track.
