2023 Genesis Electrified G80 Review: Electric Luxury

The 2023 Genesis Electrified G80 takes what I loved about the G80 and just makes it electric. The exterior Hallasan Green color had me fooled with its shifting abilities in the different light. It sometimes appeared green, blue, gray, and even black. Although I’m not a fan of fastback shaped cars, the G80 does a great job at executing the rear line and adding a lovely lip at the end of the trunk line. Although the 19” wheels offer better efficiency with battery consumption, I do prefer the 20” wheels that were on the gas-powered G80 we tested.

Getting in the Electrified G80, the white interior brighten everything up. The other color in the interior is called dark lagoon which looked black till the sun showed its true dark green color. The matte wood trim was one of my favorite things in the G80 which had an oil slick look to it. You’ll experience a relaxing drive with the extremely comfortable massage feature.

Under the hood, you’re able to actually see something. It has often happened with EV cars where you’re not even able to open the hood. The 272 kW total dual electric motors were getting the big G80 moving. You’ll experience the typical EV torque kick but it seemed to die out at around 60-70mph. Although the G80 felt fast in the initial launch, you’ll still feel its mass in the corners. Luckily the brakes were set up to provide great braking performance and feel to the pedal.

Overall I enjoyed connecting the 2023 Genesis Electrified G80 to my Autel home charger. I no longer had to make the dreaded last minute gas station trips before work.
